Things To Do During Your Stay At Upper Clattsmore Farm...


Local Tourist Attractions:    Here are some places to visit and lots of things to do. 


Let's start with some villages to see...

A visit to Upper Clattsmore would be incomplete without a drive through the villages and hamlets surrounding Bredon Hill, the main villages are (clockwise...)

Eckington, Great Comberton, Little Comberton, Elmley Castle, Ashton under Hill, Beckford, Conderton, Overbury, Kemerton, Bredon

These villages are full of charm and character, and many have excellent Pubs and Inns with good food.

A trip into the Cotswolds will let you visit some famous villages such as...

Chipping Campden, Broadway, Stanton, Bourton-on-the-Water, Snowshill, Bibury, Upper Slaughter, Lower Slaughter, Fairford, The Ampneys,

Heading west into Worcestershire and you will find a mixture of black and white, timber-framed, thatched cottages and red-brick cottages.

Possibly the finest of all the Cotswold Wool Towns

Stow-on-the-Wold

An excellent, lively centre for the North Cotswolds

Winchcombe

Picturesque small town steeped in Saxon history, once the capital of Mercia

Cirencester   

This town was the Roman city of Corinium. Particularly lovely parish church

Tewkesbury    

The Rivers Severn and Avon meet here - not without incident! Famous for the Battle of Tewkesbury in 1471.  Unspoilt town centre, with many timbered buildings & magnificent Norman Abbey Church

Moreton-in-Marsh 

A lively Cotswold town with a great street market every Tuesday

Stratford-upon-Avon

William Shakespeare's birthplace

Pershore

A beautiful Abbey and plenty of good shops

 


There are places of historical interest... 

Bredon Hill Forts

A number of outstanding Iron-Age hill forts are to be found on Bredon Hill, the best example is at Parson's Folly on the summit, with another as you walk upward towards the summit from Conderton

Belas Knap

If you can manage the walk there's a Stone Age burial ground. 2 miles south west of Winchcombe

Sudeley Castle and Gardens 

Beautifully situated building dating from 15th Century - ½ mile south east of Winchcombe

Cirencester    

Once Britain's second largest Roman city

There are many other hill forts, barrows & ancient sites covering the whole area, including the famous Rollright Stones, which can be found between Moreton-in-Marsh and Chipping Norton.


Bredon Hill Walk



The nearby River Avon

Sporting activities, including walking and cycling...

Try the excellent golf courses at Puckrup, Tewkesbury Park, Evesham Vale and for a quick round try the course at Little Comberton

There's horse racing at Cheltenham and Stratford-on-Avon

Watersports: The River Avon is but a 'stones throw' away; also there are lakes with watersports facilities at Croft Farm, Bredon's Hardwick, Nr Tewkesbury and Aztec Watersports at Lower Moor, Pershore

Your are in excellent walking and cycling country, why not get off the beaten track on Bredon Hill or if you are energetic try cycling the 18 mile circuit around the hill.  Venturing further a field there's always the Cotswolds; and of course magnificent views into Wales if you decide to walk in the Malvern Hills. 


Shopping...

There are superb shops in Cheltenham, Worcester and Gloucester.

There are a wide variety of excellent shops in Ledbury, Broadway, Chipping Campden, Stow and Burford.

The area is renowned for local produce and lovely country pubs.   Cheltenham is particularly well known for its restaurants. But also try Pershore and of course the pubs in the nearby villages of Eckington, Bredon and Kemerton.
